Rhodes Trustees approve recommendation from the Warden of Rhodes House, Dr. John Rowett, to provide seed financing to fund the pilot project for a Math and English 'bootcamp' for high school students in rural Jamaica. The differentiating aspects of the summer pilot project is:

1. Students will be taught Math and English focused on problem areas from the preceding school year to prepare them for the upcoming school year.

2. High schools that are under-resourced and not considered as traditional high schools are the ones included in the pilot.

3. Innovative teaching methods will be used with a focus on student participation and interaction and review.

4. Student to teacher ratio will be 15:1 instead of the usual 40: 1.
